Screen and Sheer Fabrics

Screen and sheer fabrics allow a degree of light and heat to enter a space while maintaining a connection with the outside view. Screen fabrics are typically used for blinds and awnings, while sheer fabrics are used for curtains to create a soft, floating look. They offer daytime privacy and heat protection without blocking visibility. These fabrics come in different openness factors to suit varying light, heat, and privacy needs. However, at night they only provide partial privacy. For complete privacy, they can be paired with blockout or translucent fabrics for optimal performance and style.

Translucent Fabrics

Translucent fabrics filter natural light into a space while maintaining full privacy. They soften incoming light, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere, making them ideal for areas like bathrooms, meeting rooms, or spaces requiring privacy without complete darkness. This level add translucency can vary, bridging the gap between sheer and blockout fabrics. These fabrics help maintain energy efficiency and visual comfort by allowing controlled illumination without glare, providing both function and aesthetic balance in interior design.

Blockout Fabrics

Blockout fabrics are designed to minimise light and heat from entering a room, ensuring maximum privacy and insulation. Commonly used in bedrooms, theatres, and offices, they are ideal where darkness or screen visibility is important. When used in awnings, they can block 100% of the sun’s UV rays. Some blockout fabrics, especially when combined with linings, can also reduce external noise and improve acoustics. They contribute to a solid, structured look, and when paired with sheers, they provide versatility—light and openness by day, and full privacy at night.

These fabrics are selected not only for function but also to add a distinct aesthetic character, making window furnishings a central design feature. Whether luxurious or minimalist, designer fabrics allow endless creativity, helping transform interiors with colour, pattern, and tactile richness to achieve a polished, custom look that evokes emotion and visual impact.
